When she spoke,
The world tingled at her voice,
She had this twinkle in her eyes,
Her eyes, beautifully curved,
Her lovely pierced dimples,
Her heart too was of gold.
They called her naive when she secured her heart
To her first love,
He promised never to hurt,
Never to deceive,
But promises are meant to be broken,
Aren't they?
She committed crimes,
Crimes of love,
Of which she'd pay a dime,
Just to have,
He said "baby let's start over."
Her heart said never,
But still she had to ponder,
She thought of all the tears,
All the years,
All she missed,
All her dreams, that he took away,
Since he wanted her to live his way,
And with the same twinkle which was dimmed,
She shone once more,
When she said No,
And for the first time in a long time her dimple appeared.
